Born Michael John Douglas, but known professionally as Michael Keaton, this American actor, producer, and director changed his name because there were two other actors with his birth name. He is the youngest child of six children – three brothers and three sisters, and has a child of his own: a son, Sean Douglas, with whom he is very close. Michael is an avid sportsman and sports fan, and is a diehard supporter of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoys fly fishing on his 1 000 acre ranch in Montana. And as for food, it’s said he’s got quite a taste for a mean mushroom and barley soup.
- Quarter of a cup of olive oil
- One cup of chopped onions
- Two carrots (chopped and diced)
- Half a cup of celery (chopped)
- One teaspoon of garlic (minced)
- One punnet of mushrooms (sliced)
- Six cups of chicken broth
- Three quarters of a cup of barley
Heat the oil in a large soup pot over a medium heat, and add the onion, carrots, celery and garlic. Cook whilst stirring until onions are tender and transparent, then stir in the mushrooms and continue to cook for a few minutes more. Pour in the chicken broth and add the barley. Bring to a boil and then reduce the heat; cover and simmer until the barley is tender, (about 50 minutes).
Season with salt and pepper before serving.
