The Deviled Egg Twists To Try

Ah, the deviled egg. Simple, but the perfect appetiser for any occasion. From picnics to afternoon tea, or a light supper, these little treats will leave you wanting more. We will show you how to take the classic deviled egg recipe and add a modern twist to the mix.

A quick recap on the classic deviled egg recipe:
Ingredients:
6 hard-boiled eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon white sugar
1 teaspoon white vinegar
1 teaspoon mustard
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon finely chopped celery
1 pinch paprika

Method:
Slice the peeled, hard-boiled eggs in half, lengthwise. Remove the yolks with a spoon and set aside the egg whites. In a small bowl, mash the egg yolks with a fork. Add the mayonnaise, sugar, vinegar, mustard, salt, onion and celery. Combine the yolk mixture well. Use a spoon or a piping bag to add the egg yolk mixture to the hollowed out egg whites. Sprinkle paprika on top and refrigerate until serving.

Guacamole deviled eggs:
Ingredients:
6 hard-boiled eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
½ mashed avocado
1 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon mustard
½ teaspoon salt
ground pepper

Method:
Like the classic deviled eggs, peel the eggs and hollow out the yolks into a bowl. Mash the yolks with the avocado and then stir in the mayonnaise. Add the lemon juice, mustard and salt and mix well. Spoon or pipe the mixture into the hollowed out egg whites and garnish with black pepper.

Bacon and jalapeno deviled eggs:
Ingredients:
6 hard-boiled eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
¼ cup fried bacon bits
2 tablespoons grated cheddar
1 teaspoon mustard
2 finely chopped jalapenos
½ teaspoon salt
ground pepper

Stir in the mayonnaise, lemon juice, bacon bits, cheddar, mustard and jalapenos. Spoon or pipe the mixture into the hollowed out egg whites and garnish with ground black pepper.

Hummus filled deviled eggs:
Ingredients:
6 hard-boiled eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ cup hummus
toasted sesame seeds
salt and pepper

Method:
Like the classic deviled eggs, peel the eggs and hollow out the yolks into a bowl. Mash the egg yolks in a bowl, using a fork. Add the hummus, mayonnaise and lemon juice. Mix well. Spoon or pipe the mixture into the hollowed out egg whites and garnish with ground black pepper and salt. Sprinkle the toasted sesame seeds on top before serving.

Bacon, basil and tomato deviled eggs:
Ingredients:
6 hard-boiled eggs
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 tablespoon honey mustard
½ cup fried bacon bits
6 small cherry tomamtoes, finely chopped
1 handful basil leaves, finely chopped

Method:
Like the classic deviled eggs, peel the eggs and hollow out the yolks into a bowl. Mash the egg yolks in a bowl, using a fork. Add the mayonnaise and honey mustard until well combined. Mix the bacon bits, tomatoes and basil. Spoon or pipe the mixture into the hollowed out egg whites. Serve chilled.
