Who Are They?

GiLo LIFESTYLE is a brand that believes in fashion with a conscience. Their goal is to provide fashion in a sustainable way. Gi (Gina) & Lo (Loren) were the original founders of the brand in 2015, expanding rapidly since. GiLo has the hopes of changing consumers’ mindsets and making a difference by providing stylish clothing without guilt. Gina has been part of the fashion world for 25 years, but has always had a yearning to start her own brand. It was at a trade show when she came across fabrics made from materials that would make a difference. The first idea and the concept of providing fashionable goods without harming animals or the environment was born. The idea took root and slowly the flame was fanned by Gina’s wife, who is an animal lover herself. Loren is also highly creative, and the brand grew very naturally from their mutual love of design and desire to make a difference.

What Do They Do?

GiLo produces fashionable garments at an affordable price, using fabrics made from recycled plastic as well as a synthetic fibre called ‘SEE’. The fit and feel is hugely important and a great deal of emphasis is put into achieving just this. The shorts fabric is made from 92 percent recycled plastic – plastic removed from our oceans. By using this fabric and encouraging others to do the same, they are hopefully making a significant step in cleaning our seas. GiLo has provided an online shopping experience to make the products ever more accessible. The brand can also be found in certain retails stores and markets should one wish to feel the softness of the fabric or fit them. Customer satisfaction is of significant importance and where possible GiLo encourages feedback, and will respond to any suggestions or queries.

Where Are They Based?

GiLo is based in Cape Town, South Africa, but is expanding its horizons, having already started an online shopping experience in Sydney, Australia, as well as retail stores and hotel boutiques in both Mauritius and the Seychelles.
