The Small Business Corner: Paraffin Innovations

WE at people magazine believe in the small business enterprise as a driver of our economy. We are strong supporters of individuals who exhibit an entrepreneurial spirit and who are creating jobs. And that’s why we want to give them our full support.

Who Are They?

PARAFFIN INNOVATIONS is a sales and distribution house which is responsible for the distribution of the IHarvey paraffin generator and the Arivi Eva Safety stove. The company was founded by Nick Spencer and Graeme Liron to ensure that the lives of the less privileged are improved through hard work and dedication. Nick is an entrepreneur with close ties to business in the security and sound industry, while Graeme comes from a telecoms background and has over 25 years of experience in running a company, especially from an operational aspect, and is now dedicated to getting Paraffin Innovations into a position where they can service the different sectors that need the products they sell.

What Do They Do?

THEY’RE constantly searching for the right people who can open doors to governments throughout Africa to get the much-needed IHarvey paraffin generator and safety stove into the homes of the less fortunate. They need people who can help NGOs see the benefits of the products, along with the right contacts for the upliftment of the lives of the less fortunate and say, “We can get it out there.” They are constantly searching for that inroad to get into a position whereby the NGOs are able to raise the funds required to purchase these paraffin products and get them to the people who need them. Their products are paraffin driven, with the IHarvey generator being able to supply constant light via three LED lamps that come in the box. It runs for 29 hours on one litre of paraffin, making it cheaper and safer to run than a candle. It also has a USB charging port that can charge cellphones, tablets and power banks – basically any USB you can plug into a computer, the IHarvey will charge. The IHarvey product was also awarded the ‘Best Invention Of 2018’ by Popular Mechanics. The Arivi Eva Safety stove is a huge upgrade over the present paraffin stoves bought and is completely safe. It won’t catch on fire if knocked over and will not have blow-back problems, which are one of the main causes of fires in the home, presently. Neither prod uct emits any pungent smell, and are 4 000 times cleaner to run than similar devices available.

Where Are They Based?

THEY are based in both Fourways and have an outlet in Raslouw, Centurion.

Who Benefits?

ANYONE who gets one of these products benefits because it brings power and safety into the homes of the people. Due to the charging facilities of the IHarvey, children can keep their devices charged and therefore can study at any time.

Robert is a descendant of the stout Macpherson Clan out of the Scottish Highlands and can claim Robert the Bruce as a far-off cousin. He suffers from a severe form of Collectors’ Disease and sports an assortment of small valuable curious. In his spare time he works a full-time job, but his real prowess lies within his musical aptitude as a drummer. He is a semi-amateur of the instrument and although he claims beating a drumhead one of the more primal sensations man can experience, he feels it to be an unnatural exercise to pursue. If he could have his way, he’d have breakfast every meal of the day and is a fan of all things Roald Dahl.
