Recently when a patient was transferred to the Hospital Agudo in Brazil, the staff noticed that two dogs seemed to be waiting around the entrance to the building. This continued for two weeks when the staff found out that one of the dogs, belonged to that patient.
The loyal pooches, called Princess, and her bestie, who staff name Scooby, kept her company while she patiently waited for her human to recover.
The two’s vigil so moved the staff that they decided the dogs should be able to visit the patient. The dogs were taken to a vet for a check up and to a groomer, so they could look their best.
The vet described the visit telling The Dodo: “We took the carriers into the room and released the dogs,” The man began to breathe excitedly. The dogs climbed on the bed, and we put his hand on Princess. And there she lay and stayed.”
“We are honoured to be able to contribute to this important and special meeting,” the vet later wrote. “It will surely be reflected in the patient’s recovery and will soothe the distressed heart of the dogs, who were missing him so much.”
While their human is recovering the staff are taking care of the two dogs, and are hoping he recovers soon so they can be reunited.
“All of us on the staff of the Agudo Hospital Association are rooting for the recovery of our patient and that he returns home soon,” the facility wrote, “so that Princess and her friend can alleviate their longing.”
