10 Schizophrenia Warning Signs

Schizophrenia is a mental disorder that usually appears in late adolescence or early adulthood. It is characterised by delusions, hallucinations, and other cognitive difficulties. The early signs of schizophrenia mostly happen in the teen years, which can be difficult for the teen and the parents. We share some warning signs, courtesy of Healthyplace.com, to help you recognise if something is going on.
1. Change in friends and/or a drop in grades
2. Sleep problems
3. Irritability
4. Cognitive impairment (may appear in childhood)
5. Difficulty telling reality from fantasy
6. Social isolation and withdrawing from others speaking
9. Paranoid ideas
10. Family history of psychosis and the parents.
7. An increase in unusual thoughts, perceptions and suspicions
8. Odd manners of thinking and speaking

Did You Know?
The very earliest schizophrenia signs often occur before the age of 16, but they may not become noticeable until between the ages of 16 and 30. Also, men tend to experience signs of schizophrenia earlier than women.
