Sophie Lichaba has come out to set the record straight on claims that she’s in financial trouble
Actress and TV star Sophie Lichaba has hit back at claims that she’s drowning in a “cesspool of debt,” labelling the recent spate of tabloid reports as “lies”
Sophie’s personal affairs made headlines again this past weekend, after Sunday World reported that First National Bank apparently applied for a court order as she allegedly failed to settle her overdraft facility and owed almost R100 000 on her car payment.
The paper claimed that Sophie owed R150 000 on her overdraft and that she had allegedly been ignoring call agents’ pleas to settle the debt.
Sophie addressed the debacle through a statement issued on Monday.
“I’m not happy about what the paper was saying about me, it is all lies that are unfounded. I am focusing on my family and work.
“Making Hashtags is a successful uniquely South African television show that touches lives is one of my goals at this point. I would like for the media to respect my private life,” read the statement.
In April this year Sophie’s alleged financial woes also made headlines, after Sunday World reported that her fancy Featherbrooke Estate home was set to go under the hammer
At the time it was claimed that she was in arrears of over R80 000.
Just days after those reports emerged, Sophie’s hubby, Max Lichaba shared pictures of the luxury dream home he bought for her.
“It’s such a great feeling as a man to buy your wife her dream home. She said, ‘this is where I want to live, this is the house I want’. I obliged. She deserves it!!
“Anything for my amazing wife. She treats me like a king after all,” Max said on Instagram at the time.
