Winter Special 2018

by Suzy Mukendi

It was soo hard saying goodbye to summer but at least the transition comes with its perks. We know it can be difficult deciding what to wear in winter because we all want to be warm and still look good once that’s out the way. What many don’t know is that just because its winter doesn’t mean your wardrobe has to completely change. Yes you have to have more pieces like coats, jerseys, boots and stockings but with every trend that’s out there, you will see some elements of spring/summer thrown in the mix.  Another secret that we shared more than once is to turn to street style. Not only are they a good indication of what trends are about to blow up but the styles can also help you tackle trends that you love but don’t know where to get started. This week we fill you in on the trends thanks to some of South Africa’s most loved designers that are a must for winter and how to wear them.

Woolworths Style By SA designers shed light on their muses

One that never shies away from taking risks and going all out! It’s incredible how Gert will always go all out and mixes strong and bold trends together and creates a masterpiece. Normally some trends look great when there’s nothing thrown in the mix but Gert proves us wrong and shows us how to wear the trend altogether and instead of looking like a mess; it looks like the world is your runway. His collection always either has a story or a clear theme. We love how you can wear social issues, it can be seen in what you wear and you not only support the cause and make noise but you look incredible doing it. We saw a lot of pretty and soft shades, frills and 3d designs which are all trends for winter. People think you only have to wear dark colours in winter but you’re wrong, you can be warm and winter ready with lighter colours and girly, feminine styles.Wear it with…

We feel Ephymol knows exactly what a man needs in his wardrobe, better yet what every man should be wearing. His pieces are always bold in a classic way, making t easy for every man to wear the garments.  A trend seen in Ephymol’s collection is check prints, texture through use of different shades of one colour and fabric.
