Winter Doesn’t Need To Equal Unhappy Skin

WINTER is the season of unhappy skin. The bitter cold, dry weather doesn’t discriminate: it takes its toll on all skin types and affects people of all ages.  Harsh winter conditions cause dry, itchy and sensitive skin. So, choosing the right moisturiser for your skin is key to soothe and hydrate your skin. Enter E45, a product range that has for over 60 years, been at the forefront of treating the skin you’re in and having healthier feeling skin. With the right moisturiser, you can achieve beautiful skin during winter, which begs the question, ‘Who said glowing, dewy skin can only be achieved in summer?’

Here are five tips to save your skin from the harsh winter conditions:

  1. Be gentle to your skin

During the winter months, skin tends to lose its temper. Keep calm and let it have its moment, then treat it gently.

Use a fragrance-free cream moisturiser that will soothe dry skin. The same goes for removing make-up. Use an emollient cream on your face which is gentler than other removers that contain alcohol, which can irritate the skin.

  1. Moisturise on the move

When you’re constantly washing your hands, or take showers at the gym every morning post-workout, your skin can lose hydration faster during winter. E45’s cream tube is the perfect fit for a handbag or gym bag, giving you healthy, moisturised skin wherever you go.

  1. Boost full-body hydration

As the days and nights get colder, we tend to enjoy hotter baths and showers more than ever. While this gets you warm, hot water strips your skin of the protective oils that keeps it hydrated. You can still have your hot bath and enjoy it too, by using a full-body moisturiser that contains Glycelrol3 to keep your skin hydrated.

  1. Protect skin against scratchy clothes

There’s nothing better than pulling on your favourite sweater when the temperature drops. But does your skin agree? Sometimes, knitwear can scratch against skin, causing dryness and irritation. Use emollient creams that create a protective layer on your skin so you can stay warm and keep your skin hydrated.

  1. Guard against artificial heat

Getting into a warm bed or enjoying the warmth from a heater makes you feel warm and cosy, but artificial heat can take its toll and dry out your skin. Retain body heat by doubling up on blankets and use creams like E45 to soothe dry and irritated skin. Keep a lookout for the Lanolin ingredient in your moisturiser, which will treat, protect, and beautify your skin.
