Trend To Try: Electric Cool

FUN, colourful and decorative make-up is coming back in a big way. It seems like no-makeup make-up has been pushed aside for brighter and bolder shades. Case in point: electric blue eye make-up. In the eighties it was paired with equally colourful and over the top outfits. The early 2000’s saw another revival of thick, pastel and frosty blue. Now, blue is back, but in deeper, more modern shades in a variety of shapes and finishes. Indigo. Azure. Navy. Matte. Metal. Whatever your chosen blue, we’ve got the coolest ways to wear it!

  1. Get Under Way

THE waterline needs prettifying too! Shades of blue add an unexpected jolt of colour to the oft-forgotten area. Skim a blue pencil, or eyeshadow with an angled brush, across the lower lash line. Then dust a bright blue powder shadow in the inner corners in lieu of a standard shimmery highlighter.

  1. Smoking Hot

INCORPORATE blues into your party go-to: smoky eyeshadow. Blue would guarantee a fun night out! Start with your regular smoky colours, but swipe a cobalt blue eye shadow above the lashes and blend it into the darker shades on the side and towards the crease. You will stand out amidst all the other smoky eyes.

  1. Leave It To The Lid

SMEAR a creamy bright blue eye shadow across the lids and use a brush to soften the edges. That’s literally all you need for this runway-inspired make-up look. A quick swish of the mascara wand on both top and bottom lashes intensifies the results without a lot of effort.

  1. Indigo Girl

WITHOUT batting an eye, we reach for the brown or black mascara every day to enhance and finish off a make-up look. Why not make a statement by rocking a vibrant shade on your lashes? The trick to pulling this off is to keep the rest of your make-up completely natural and letting your blue mascara steal the spotlight.

  1. Cobalt Cat

CREATE the perfect eyeliner wing like a pro. Cut a piece of sellotape and stick it from the end of the waterline upwards to the end of the brow. This will be your guide. Grab your marine coloured liquid liner and you’re ready to pin and Instagram your cool eye look.

TIP: STILL a blue rookie? Skip frosted textures and pastels, which can easily look chalky, or worse ‘disco’. Opt for navy or azure.
