Trend To Try: Soft Shades

A beauty trend that’s sure to make your heart flutter is flat-out fabulous metallic touches. Some trends are so crazy and unexpected that they hit Instagram like a beauty tidal wave (rainbow lipstick anyone?). But metallics offer the best of both worlds: there are soft shimmers if you want to ease into getting that glimmer and then there are seriously daring HD eyes. It can be as bold or as subtle as you like. This week we’ve chosen to go soft instead of hard with metals. Here’s how to get the look.

LEAVE the bronzer for summer and play up your natural complexion, even if it’s pasty this time of year (remember pale is the new tan). Start by sweeping a highlighter on your cheekbones to make them pop or mix your foundation with a liquid highlighter for a dewy, glowing-all-over complexion. Here, we continued to play with shine using a champagne coloured metallic eyeshadow on the lids, tracing just outside the waterline with the same shade, and finished off with two coats of mascara, perfectly groomed brows and a matte finish on lips.

Megaglow Highlighter: R89.95, By Wet ‘n Wild, Clicks, The Just for Fun Highlighter: R199.95, 3INA, Glam’eyes Mono Shadow: R99.95, Rimmel, Stayfast Liquid Matte Metallic Lipstick In Reign: R89.95, Yardley And Metal Shock Eyeshadow In Stars & Stories: R79.99, Essence

TIP: THE perfect way to give any look a glamorous edge, metallic liner is the ideal choice for someone that wants to ease their way into the trend.
