Trend To Try: High Dose Of Hot Red

NO-ONE can deny the classic beauty of a neutral smokey eye or a black winged liner, but it looks like this might be the year we embrace something different. If the red carpets and runways are anything to go by, we’re going to get a hot dose of colour injected into our make-up routines. When it comes to pulling together a make-up look, remember: the brighter, the better. Here’s how to wear killer red with pride.

RED lips to add va va voom to your look is a given, but ever thought about red eyes? If you’re only comfortable wearing shades ranging from ivory to nude, then red eyeshadow can seem like a major risk. But there are ways that red eyeshadow can look just as sophisticated as neutrals. Hailey Baldwin tones red down by wearing a crimson metallic shadow on her top lid, which turned her eyes a golden hue and sweeping the same colour mixed with bronze on the lower lashes. A muted brick red eye was the outcome. A pop-of-red eyeliner is another option to add a little colour into your everyday look.

I am Beauty Editor at People Magazine and a make-up artist. I have worked with many celebrities, including, Phumeza Mdaba, Boity, Zuraida Jardine and Rolene Strauss. I always knew I would work in magazines, as I grew up in publishing (my parents are publishers). When I’m not writing beauty or following my passion for make-up, I can be found reading and spending time with family and friends. I am also a tea-lover
