TV Presenter and Fashion/Beauty Consultant and Image Specialist, Francois Louw, certainly knows a thing or two about skincare, beauty and treatments. A few treatments that Francois recommends all men and women indulge in, is a facial, a massage and a peel! We asked our readers to send in their most wanted answers & got Francois Louw to give us the Louw-down on all your problems.
I suffer from pigmentation and acne. Where do you suggest I go and what treatment should I book?
A facial is almost a necessity for me. Because of my line of work, it is very important for my skin to look and feel great and I firmly believe that you will get the skin at 40 that you deserve. I would suggest to anyone that they try go for facials once or twice a month, just ensure the products they use are suitable to your skin and applied correctly by a professional. This will help with your acne and keep your skin hydrated, healthy and clear. For pigmentation, I suggest you go see Dr Reza Mia. He’s an expert in this field and will be able to offer you sound advise on what your options are. This may include a more detailed/bigger treatment, so be sure to budget for it.
I am self-conscious about my teeth, as they are slightly discoloured. What should I do?
Something I recently indulged in was the professional Zoom Whitening Procedure. This was done by Dr Gerhard Kok, who is based in Bryanston at the Wellness Centre. It was an incredible experience and I have definitely seen the results. Our teeth are something we often seem to neglect, and they are one of our biggest features! It is important to remember that Teeth whitening can only be done every 6-12 months, to protect your teeth and gums, and pregnant women are advised not to get their teeth whitened. To add to my treatment, I received a home whitening kit which I am applying at home to maintain my pearly whites! Book with Dr Kok and try it out for yourself. I would also suggest you stay away from beverages like tea and cola, which is known to have a negative effect on your teeth.
I want to treat my mom to some pampering. What do you suggest?
My ultimate pamper spot is Life Day Spa Fourways! The atmosphere and the scenery at Life Day Spa Fourways is simply relaxing on it’s own. If you haven’t been there yet, do yourself a favour! You definitely won’t regret it, and it is definitely cost-effective! You can book a couples treatment for you and your mom, as well as have lunch afterwards in their upstairs café area. They will take your order before your treatment and when you come out, your lunch will be ready to be enjoyed! Life Day Spa offers a number of massages, not just your typical back massage., so get creative and pick something different.
I am in my early thirties and suffering from hair loss. What should I do?
For anyone suffering from thinning hair and hair loss, I highly recommend Resulté. Keeping your hair healthy and looking after your locks is a must! For thinning hair, preventing hair loss and promoting hair growth I recommend using an anti hair-loss tonic such as Resulté Cosmetics- Anti Hair loss Tonic, which is highly affordable and proven to be very effective. Last resort, if it is still bothering you is to make a consultation with a professional hair loss practitioner but I would recommend you try all other options first. If you’re looking for a great hairdresser as well, I highly recommend LDR Salon – they are incredible at what they do and really value each client.
I am in my late twenties and suffer from quite a bit of facial hair. As a woman, this is incredibly embarrassing. What should I do?
We are all different in the way our hair grows, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of. I suggest you book an appointment with WAXIT – they are purely dedicated to waxing only and offer the most comfortable experience. Their WAXITologists are professionally trained and are there to lend you a listening ear when having your treatment or you can simply listen to music or read up on news on their provided iPads. The wax they use is imported from France and designed for even the most sensitive of skins. Should you prefer to thread, they offer that too. They have three branches in Johannesburg (Douglasdale, Lonehill, Kyalami Corner) and one in Pretoria (Menlyn Maine).
