It’s the first monday of May, and you know what that means? Metropolitan Museum Of Art Costume Institute Gala 2019! We had to keep checking our times to make sure that we didn’t miss the fashion that stepped on the carpet. Hosted by Lady Gaga, Harry Styles, Serena Williams, and Anna Wintour, the gala drew crowds of fashion and art lovers to the Met in their campiest ensembles. Guests put on their best interpretations of ‘camp’ – which meant outfits had to show humour, irony and be theatrical. Like every other carpet, some celebs we think got a bit lost a bit and didn’t quite get the theme. Have a look at the celebrities that attended the Met Gala 2019 and judge for yourself.

DAKOTA JOHNSON

This woman is simply gorgeous and there’s always an elegant feel to anything she wears so no matter how extravagant the theme is, she always adds an elegant touch to it. Dakota wore a royal Gucci dress with an embellished red heart down her chest.

NINA DOBREV

Soo… we were rather disappointed with Nina – why do celebs go futuristic when the theme is theatrical or art? All we can say about this look is she wore a shimmering minidress.

GABRIELLE UNION & DWAYNE WADE

This look had a cathedral feel and wasn’t a wow showstopping look. Gabrielle wore a beaded dress and jacket with a matching headgear and completed the look with a pair of leather gloves. While he went for a more classic approach in a classic tux with a sequined harness underneath. Hmmm…

TREVOR NOAH

We think Trevor didn’t have to do much as he is the humour! So we take our hats off to him as he nailed the theme to perfection. He wore a statement top that proved that camp is him.

LUPITA NYONG’O

Best interpretation of the theme! This was theatrical and fashion at the same time. Yes there were a lot of colours (basically she wore all the colours of the rainbow) but like the theme said, it had to be exaggerated, which she did. She wore a multi-coloured sparkly dress which was see-through and rainbow coloured wings. Lupita completed her look with gold afro combs on her hair and a fluffy fan as a handbag.

TOM BRADY & GISELE BUNDCHEN

Ok so the only reason these two on here because their are one of the hottest couples and we just love them! Even though they looked like they attended the wrong event. We love Gisele’s dress, this pale pink pleated dress was simply elegant and simply a dream.

ZENDAYA

Zendaya dressed as Cinderella in a light up Tommy Hilfiger dress and what’s CInderella if she doesnt have her fairy godmother with her? Her stylist Law Roach dressed as her fairy godmother and carried a wand to light up her dress with wisps of smoke as she walked the carpet. Zendaya has always stuck to the theme and she’s knows a lot about fashion and dressing up for any occasion comes at ease for her.

SOLANGE KNOWLES

We were expecting more theatrics from Solange because she’s all about drama and going all out, but this time the star went for a more sensual look in a python bodysuit with matching thigh high boots. We think all the bold looks on the carpet overshadowed her look.

EZRA MILLER

This look was just soo spot on and freaky at the same time. This was a look that you couldn’t miss and Ezra truly embraced all requirements of the theme. He wore a pinstriped suit that featured a train that was detailed in jewels. Walking the carpet, it looked like he was doing a performance. The look was an optical illusion and behind the mask, were multiple sets of eyes that met at the top of his head.

JENNIFER LOPEZ

Only JLO would make a beaded wig look this hoott! But, to be honest, this look was no different to what she’s normally seen in on the red carpet. The only difference was the wig. The end.

RITA ORA AND KATE MOSS

The two looked like a goddess in metallic sequinned gowns by Marc Jacobs. Have we seen a look like this before? Yes! Do we love it? Hell, Yeah!

KENDALL AND KYLIE JENNER

The two walked the carpet in coordinating feathered looks. Kendall stunned in a bright orange feathered naked dress, while Kylie opted for a lavender feathered naked dress. We were here for these looks and our favourite has got to be Kylie!

JOE JONAS & SOPHIA TURNER

Newlyweds wore coordinating outfits by Louis Vuitton. Sophia wore an embellished sequin jumpsuit that featured graphics and Joe matched to that in a polo neck with black trousers.

CIARA

YESSSSS Ciara!! Camp Cher look achieved! Ciara stepped the carpet looking like a goddess dropping in bright green and no one could miss her sky high ‘fro. The dress was embellished with green sequins and along with cutouts in her shoulders and both sides of her rib cage. The Peter Dundas gown also featured a thigh high slit and a feather train and she completed the look with matching gloves and green strappy sandals.

NICKI MINAJ

Boring… Nicki wore a pale pink high low puffy gown with crystals and thigh high strappy sandals. we kind of expected more from the star.

DUA LIPA

Dua nailed the theme and this was not only art but fashion and her look created a show stopping moment. She wore a Versace gown with matching boots, nails and rings. This was pure perfection! One of our best dressed!

CARA DELEVINGNE

She never shies away from making a bold fashion statement and always goes the extra mile. She went for a circus inspired look in a rainbow striped outfit and a headpiece made of fruit, eyeballs, candy and teeth?

CARDI B

Cardi always make a entrance and this time it was like no other! Cardi shut it down in this huge quilted and feathered gown by Thom Browne that required its own team to help her make its way down the red carpet. It had the most massive train on the red carpet at the met gala and kind of reminded us of Rihanna’s met gala 2015 look. Also, you could have a nice nap on it if you felt tired!

GEMMA CHAN

Ah guys! We love this look soo much. We love Gemma! She is such a fashionista. We think give it a few years and she will be seen as a fashion mogul, if not already. Gemma wore a chain mail silver dress by Tom Ford, which was embroidered with thousands of crystals and completed the look with matching cape, heels and dramatic headdress.

KIM KARDASHIAN AND KANYE

Let’s put all our attention on Kim K since Kanye is Kanye and doesn’t really stick to the rules. Kim K looked like she was dripping in water when she stepped out wearing a nude, body-hugging Mugler dress that cinched her waist. The dripping beads and sequins were matched with her wet waves to make it look like her outfit was soaked. We can’t get over how hot she looks but we do wish at that the dress was a long one.

EMILY RATAJKOWSKI

Ah her bod!! Emily, why have you made us now run to the gym and spend the whole day there. Emily had no plans to hide her body in this beaded dress that wrapped around her body. Pity she look with a rather silly winged headpiece.

JANELLE MONAE

Our favourite Janelle! When doesn’t she nail it on the carpet? Her style is soo unique and she always makes such a bold fashion statement! She went literal head-to-toe interpretation of the camp theme and it started with her choice of accessories. She wore hat on top of hats, and a dress with with one side in black and white with lips, and the other side featured an eye complete with 3D lashesand colourful pink section.

PRIYANKA CHOPRA JONAS AND NICK JONAS

Priyanka walked the carpet hand-in-hand with her husband Nick Jonas in coordinating white and silver looks. Priyanka stunned in a Dior Haute Couture silver gown with colorful feathered ruffles and a matching cape. The dress also featured a thigh-high slit, underneath which the actress wore sheer silver polka-dotted tights. She completed the look with a spiked silver crown and jewels. While her husband, wore a white Dior Men tux, jewels and sparkly silver Christian Louboutin shoes. We have to ask though, why the silver futuristic theme?
