Hairstyle Trends For Summer

THE natural carefree textured locks are a big trend for Spring/Summer this year. The relaxed lob cut or bob, remains a top style choice for many and is perfect for low maintenance holiday hair care.  Senior stylist from Urban Sass, Eloise, shares season hair trends for this coming Spring/Summer season.

Braid it up for the Beach!

Hairstyle Trends For Summer

Braids are big this season, and there are so many styles to choose from. Have fun, scan YouTube and practice! Braids are easier to achieve when your hair is not squeaky clean, so slightly dirtier with more textured will result in a better braid. Eloise loves the loose side fishtail style. Imperfect is the new perfect here.

Colour Trends

Hairstyle Trends For Summer

Sombre, Bayalage and baby lights are color techniques you will need to know about when you visit your stylist this summer.  We have kicked out the old-fashioned highlights so no more metallic bronzed finishes, it’s time to create the more subtle and natural look by adding darker tones to the base and golden warmer tones to the ends.

Give grey a go! An unlikely hair trend, but customers are still requesting it and silver-grey hair hues are still being seen on social media. Eloise is loving the trend, but says it’s not for everyone as the stylist has to make the clients hair lighter to go this color, and this can weaken the hair overall. Her tip here is to always add smart bond to the color to protect the hair and prevent breakage, as always, it’s vital to use good products at home too. If not grey, then temporary pastel hues are popular too.

Hair Care In The Summer

The sun and salt add extra damage toyour hair so if you want to rock the newest colour techniques, use professional hair care products.

  • Kerastase Aura Botanica is an amazing new range and is gentle and sulphate-free so before washing your hair, indulge in a short, 15-minute treatment using the oil blend for a much-needed boost of nourishment, the sweet orange fragrance is gorgeous.
  • The Elixir Ultime Original Oil collection is amazing for nourishment and shine! The oil’s key ingredient is called the oleo-complex which is comprised of four rich oils. It gives incredible shine, restoration and deep conditioning to the hair. I make sure every single one of my guest has one of these at home. You can use this product before and after your blow dry and it’s amazing for frizz control.
  • Keen on that beach-hair- don’t-care vibe? Then opt for the Redken sea salt spray helps you achieve that Salt-soaked, sun-drenched beach look. Infused with sea salt, the spray gives hair a matte finish.
  • Your natural oil produced on the scalp are needed and good, so choose a good dry hair shampoo so that you don’t wash your hair every day!
