Trend To Try: Celebrating The Forties

GO back in time to the best in beauty.

IN an era where pretty much everything has been done to death when it comes to hair and make-up, we’re at a stage where we look back to the past for future inspiration. This week we look at Hollywood hair from yesteryear that you can wear with confidence today.

Laura Harrier and Rita Ora

NO doubt one of the most sophisticated eras for hair and beauty, the forties are still a source of inspiration today. Celebs are still coveting old Hollywood-inspired retro waves and a strategically wielded curling iron will give you this look. This style is best created when hair has a bit of texture. Work with day-old hair (or a little texturising spray will do the trick) that’s straight and smooth. Wrap large sections of hair, working from top to bottom, around a barrel iron, holding it vertically. Run your fingers through your hair to blend in the curls.
