Hair And Make-up That Will Dominate 2020

2019 saw hard to grow out baby bangs, bizarre eyebrow shapes and unicorn everything. Looking back, it’s enough to make up face palm. We’re happy to bid adieu to some of these beauty moments. But luckily we can now we can look to the future with hope: there are better beauty things to come. We’ve rounded up the make-up and hair that will rule twenty twenty. You have a entire year to try out these six trends, so why not play around a bit?

The post-facial glow

ALTHOUGH bright lips and a smokey eye still have their place in the beauty world, ‘no make-up’ aka glowing, dewy skin is the new must-have. Soft strobing and ‘non-touring’ dewiness has taken the place of heavy contouring. Cheat your way to professional glow by using clear multi-purpose balm (Vaseline works in a pinch too) and tap it on lids, cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose, and on lips. Not confident enough to go foundation-free? Work an illuminating foundation onto the areas of the skin that needs some extra coverage.

The Disco Look

TAP some silver underneath the eyes, accentuate peepers with festive red, play with placing in the inner corners of the eyes, or go big with highlighting. When it comes to getting creative with glitter, the sky really is the limit. We’d just reserve this one for night-time outings though. If you want to dip your toe into the trend, rather than jump in head first then a highly pigmented glitter liner might be just the thing for you.

Artsy Eyes

TWIGGY style sixties eyes, stacks of false lashes and lots of colour. We called it – ornamental eyes will be huge in 2020. It can be as simple as popping on a bright coloured cat eye or as extravagant as doubling up on false lashes. This is where you can get creative! We recommend starting with a negative space cat-eye. Draw the liner on your upper lash line, like you normally would. Then etch the outline or a winged tip (customizing the thickness to your own personal taste,) and leave it unclosed. Artsy eyes in an instant.

High Hair

HAIR that is basically wearable art doesn’t get enough credit. And gravity-defying styles are what we’re after. From voluminous blowouts to sky high upstyles, tresses with body is in. For a practical nod to the trend, add volume by prepping your hair with a volumiser and texturiser to allow you to create bigger, thicker-looking locks, before liberally applying lots of strong finish hairspray.

Red Lip District

RED lips are an age old favourite and will be part of every beauty list without question. This year’s red lip is slightly different, being more on the cool, less classic side. Your crimson pout should be steeped in shine in 2020. A vinyl cherry-red lipstick combined with clean skin, and bold brows will make you look like you put in more work than you actually did. And it will get you out the door in less than 10 minutes. Bonus.

Consistently Inconsistent

CARA Delevingne may be responsible for bringing the full, thick brow look to the forefront, but brows are going to look a bit different as we enter the new decade. The aim is now natural as opposed to overdone, precisely perfect brows. Start by brushing up eyebrow hairs, and emulating hair strokes with short small strokes with a thin brow pencil in sparse areas. Highlight below the brow to give the illusion of an arch.
