JEN: Hi Claudinette! Tell me about your long-awaited SS19 collection with Fusha Designs.

CLAUDINETTE:  Hi Jen, thanks for coming backstage to chat with me. The Spring 2019 new collection is inspired by “nature” — the beautiful spring and green forest — which is, the theme for the show.  It’s all about natural, beautiful colors from spring flowers — soft textures, fabrics like, silk chiffon, silk charmeuse, organza, leather, hand beaded sequins, and combinations of different fabrics to create one-of-a-kind, unique designs.

Jen Su Sat To Chat With Kim Jayde In NYC!

JEN: How has this collection been different, from your collections in the past?

CLAUDINETTE:  My past collections focused on both women’s and menswear designs – but this time, I’m just focusing on women – mainly because of my daughter, Angelina Jean, who’s just 13.  She’s got a sharp eye for fashion, and helps keep me trendy and youthful as well!

JEN:  What can we expect in the presentation show?

CLAUDINETTE:  Fashion meets music! It’s such a great energy and vibe, with bold designs and models from different cultures and backgrounds.  My husband Wyclef is providing live music, and a number of special celebrity guests are here tonight, including Omarosa, TV personality Miss J. Alexander, and actor Daniel Gillies.

JEN: Who have been your favourite celebs to design for?
CLAUDINETTE:  One of my favorite celebs I’ve enjoyed working with was hip-hop artist, Ja Rule.  He trusted me to design his wedding suit!  American singer and actress Patti LaBelle also locked me down for nearly a whole month to design several dresses for her (laughs).

JEN: How does it feel to be collaborating with your husband, rapper and Grammy award-winning artist Wyclef Jean?

CLAUDINETTE:  Clef and I worked on every show I’ve presented at Bryant Park for New York Fashion Week together.  I appreciate that man! When couples join forces with true talents that God has blessed us with, brilliant conceptions arise and with time, you can move forward and reach success.

JEN:  What are your plans for the near future?

CLAUDINETTE:  For now, I’m just so happy to be back designing again! I’m going to continue having fun, being creative, mostly for me and my family. Looking forward to working hard until my last breath.  God is great all the time!
