Royal Beauty Rules

A signature look is the holy grail of personal style.

IF you marry into the British royal family, you give up a lot of beauty privileges that us normal folks take for granted. They have to stick to the bare basics and still look glamorous. No holographic highlighter, false eyelashes and feathered brows here. Kate, Meghan and Diana embraced this simple approach to beauty and have become icons in their own right with their own personal approaches to style, make-up and hair. The three famous royals each have specifics that they swore by and we’ve rarely seen them out without these non-negotiables.

Meghan’s Sculpted Signature

MEGHAN famously does not work with a make-up pro to get her facebeat on, instead she’s mastered her signature sultry eye by herself. Not quite a smokey eye, Meghan’s way is much more understated. The trick to the subtle vampy look is to use brown tones instead of black to sculpt the eye, creating a very sheer and delicate frame. Flick a gel liner on the lash line and blend it using a smudge brush, or your ring finger. Then sweep a chocolate brown shadow all over the lid, blending up to the crease and finish with a coat or two of mascara. For a touch of glam, add highlighter on the tops of the cheekbones.

TIP: NUDE eyeliner in your lower waterline is known for hiding tiredness.

Diana’s Rebellious Blue

PRINCESS Diana usually stuck to the royal beauty code, wearing barely any make-up. But in one respect she broke all the royal rules when it came to her beauty routine: lining her eyes with blue liner for many engagements in her time. She later exchanged blue liner for black, but blue will always be her most daring make-up go-to. And if it’s good enough for the Princess of Wales, it’s good enough for us. Play with colour like Princess Di by lining the bottom waterline with a daring shade and pairing it with a velvet finish nude lip.
