Much-loved South African personalities, Jeannie D and Minki van der Westhuizen, will soon light up Garnier Nutrisse’s ad campaigns. The two inspirational women have been selected as Garnier Nutrisse brand ambassadors.
This is not the first time Jeannie and Minki are representing the brand; back in 2008 and 2009, the women were ambassadors for Garnier Nutrisse’s brunette and blonde colour campaigns respectively – with phenomenal success.
“Our collaboration with Jeannie and Minki in the 2000s was incredibly successful. Garnier Nutrisse customers just loved these women as positive role models, and they were a perfect fit for the brand. We recently undertook extensive research to identify the most appropriate ambassadors for the Garnier Nutrisse brand, and again South African women said these two amazing women were credible, sincere, trustworthy and aligned with the brand. They also both already use Nutrisse, and have their own Nutrisse shades, helping to inspire other home hair colour users with confidence. We are delighted to welcome both Jeannie and Minki back as brand ambassadors 10 years on in what we anticipate will be another aspirational association between ourselves and these highly respected South African women,” says Garnier Marketing Manager, Theresa van Rooyen.
With her light-hearted outlook and infectious laugh, Jeannie D has established herself as one of South Africa’s most renowned media personalities. Her career includes hosting the hugely popular The Jeannie D Show on Good Hope FM, presenting on Top Billing and co-hosting the Top Travel TV show with Janez Vermeiren, which was eventually syndicated worldwide. Jeannie is regularly voted South Africa’s favourite, and most beautiful, celebrity.
“I am over the moon to once again be working with Garnier Nutrisse! I love the brand and what it stands for, and of course love the product. Having worked with Garnier Nutrisse 10 years ago, I used the product for all these years, and now once again been appointed a brand ambassador, feels like coming home. I can’t wait to get started on the new campaigns!” says Jeannie.
While Minki started her career as a model, and was signed at just 18 by Guess, followed by features in various local and international magazines, including South
African Sports Illustrated, The Swimwear Edition, over the last few years she too has turned to TV presenting. Following her debut on Pasella in 2007, Minki hosted two seasons of kykNET’s Boer Soek ‘n Vrou, before launching her own talk show, MINKI, on DStv’s Via this year. In between all this she is also a blogger, wife and mom to three gorgeous girls.

I first represented Garnier Nutrisse about 10 years ago, and it feels so right that everything has now come full circle and I have this incredible opportunity again, says Minki.
While Jeannie and Minki previously had individual campaigns for Garnier Nutrisse’s brunette and blonde colour portfolios – each with their own Nutrisse shades (Jeannie Garnier Nutrisse 4 ½ and Mink Garnier Nutrisse 10.01) – this time they will feature together in the same campaign, on all communications.
The campaign will be called Nourished Hair means Better Blondes & Brunettes (#bettercolour), and will focus on the power of Garnier Nutrisse’s natural ingredients and colour to nourish hair for better care, better grey coverage, and better blonde and brunette colour.
Better Blondes & Brunettes will draw on Jeannie and Minki’s own experiences and trust in using Garnier Nutrisse to connect with South African women and instil confidence in them when it comes to colouring their hair in their own homes.
