Local popstar Willem Botha is a jack of all trades. He’s an exceptional singer and television producer and has also been showing off his photography – many of which has graced magazine covers across the country. However, two years after he dropped his 2017 album ‘Soen & Vergeet’, the star is back with some brand-new music as he embarks on his new musical era.
This week, Willem dropped ‘Een Shot’, the lead single off his upcoming fifth studio album which is expected to drop at the end of the year. The song is the ultimate party starter and Willem shows the country that he still has the ability to set dancefloors alight with his distinct approach to pop music.
Willem says that the song was inspired by his youth growing up on a farm in Riversdal and how electric the party scene is in small towns. He sings about how one shot can essentially catapult you to the party of a lifetime. Willem wrote the single with Micheal Lindt and André Viljoen during a breakaway at Hayward’s Lodge in Dinokeng outside Pretoria.
The music video sees Willem riding some majestic Arabian horses. Willem is an avid horse rider and has often spoken out about his passion for the animals so its not surprising that he incorporated them into the music video. The music video chronicles four friends who work on a farm and, at night, enjoy their lives by a campfire socializing, sharing stories and making music.
‘Een Shot’ is now available to download or stream on your favourite digital music platform.
