Are you ready to rock, Mzansi? Broadway’s smash hit musical, Rock of Ages is set to rock Montecasino’s Teatro from Thursday, 26 September to Sunday, 20 October 2019. The production has been a smash hit in various territories around the world thanks to it’s epic storyline, brilliant music and incredible costumes and now, the star-studded all-local cast has officially been announced.

The production had a run at Gold Reef City’s The Lyric theatre back in 2017 and after an incredible run, the production is making it’s way to the greatest stage in Johannesburg – Montecasino’s Teatro.

Most of the cast from the 2017 production has signed on for the resurrection of the show – including The Voice SA 2017 runner up, Josh Ansley, in the role of ‘Drew’ and singer, actor, director and producer Zak Hendrikz is ‘Lonny’ and Craig Urbani is ‘Dennis Dupree’, Natasha van der Merwe is ‘Regina’ and Raquel Munn also return to the stage in the show’s 2019 run. Neels Clasen stars as the hilarious ‘Hertz’ and Matt Counihan as ‘Franz’

There are two big changes to the lead line-up as vocalist, producer and WONDERboom band front man, Cito is cast as the male lead playing ‘Stacee Jaxx’ while Jessica Driver takes over the role of Sherrie.

Featuring 28 nostalgic rock anthems including the music of Pat Benatar, Styx, Twisted Sister, Poison, Foreigner, Reo Speedwagon, and more, Rock Of Ages pays homage to the big rock concerts of the 80’s. It takes audiences all the way back to 1987 to the fabled West Hollywood club, the ‘Bourbon Room’, set on LA’s infamous Sunset Strip. The musical tells the story of Drew, a city boy from South Detroit, and Sherrie, a small-town girl, who have both landed up in LA to chase their dreams of making it big. Rock of Ages celebrates a time when big glamour rock bands were the epitome of decadence, superficiality, oversized egos, never ending guitar solos, extreme clothes, and outrageous hairstyles!

Tickets for the performance are now available on Computicket and range from R150 – R350.
