ONE of South Africa’s biggest festivals has just announced this year’s theme – and we’re stoked!
By: El Broide
For many music lovers around South Africa, Oppikoppi has become a tradition. It’s become a time and place where the hottest live acts and festival lovers gather at one place. The dust, thorns, camping, cold showers, loud music and tequila have become synonymous with the festival and although it’s still a few months away, the organisers have finally revealed this year’s theme: “For the lovely young taken to THE UNSEA”!
The festival will head back to the pppiKoppi Farm in Limpopo on the 5, 6th and 7th of August this year, and The Unsea theme was inspired by a Gert Vlok Nel song while the artwork was designed by the Breinstorm crew with beautiful art photography by Daniel Naude.
This year, the festival turns 22 and promises to be a bigger and better event than ever before, and fans are so excited for this year’s festival. “Just bought my Oppikoppi ticket and my bank account may be sad, but my heart is happy,” one fan tweeted, while another says: “Honestly can’t wait for Oppikoppi Wish all my boys could show up, I made lifetime memories last year”
Although no acts have been confirmed for the festival just yet, it’s one that many around the country wait for. It’s one of our favourite shows and we can’t wait to be back on the dusty plot listening to our favourite bands live.
