After the success of Netflix’s first original African production ‘Queen Sono’, the streaming giant is already working at securing more African content for its African viewers. Now, the service has announced that its next original African production ‘Blood & Water’ will make its debut on the platform on 20 May 2020 – and rapper Nasty C has bagged his first acting job on the series.
The series, which stars Ama Qamata, Arno Greef, Natasha Thahane, Cindy Mahlangu, Thabang Molaba and Gail Mabalane, tells the story of a young girl who engineers a transfer to a prestigious school to investigate the 17-year-old cold case of her older sister who was abducted at birth.
In the series, Nasty C, real name David Junior Ngcobo, will appear as a music producer and will feature in a few episodes of the upcoming series. “My character is KB’s (Thabang Molaba’s) producer, who helps him put together really cool tracks. This is what I do every day and so it was a natural role for me,” the rapper says.
The star adds he also recorded something for the series’ official soundtrack – something he is very excited about. “It’s insane! I’ve never really acted before and even though I was being myself by making music, it was a crazy experience. I’m super proud to be a part of the Blood & Water soundtrack. There’s some dope artists included as well and the series is really made for the youth, which I’m excited about.”
‘Blood & Water’ premieres on 20 May only on Netflix.
