Earlier this week, Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters handed over her crown to Catriona Gray from the Philippines at the 67th annual Miss Universe pageant. However, South Africa had another successful year at the pageant as current Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green, was named the runner-up at this year’s competition. However, despite narrowly missing the top spot, Tamaryn is excited to return home and continue pushing her message of empowerment as she continues her reign as Miss South Africa.
In a heartfelt Instagram, Tamaryn gave gratitude to her local fanbase and revealed that she is excited to be coming home this week. “This one goes out to everyone who showed me so much love and support throughout the competition. I could not have done it without you. You installed so much confidence in me to go out there and just have fun. Representing my country has been one of the biggest privileges,” she said.
Tamaryn added that “It’s not the end, I’m still going to go out there continue empowering women. I’m going to continue with my #BreakTheStigma campaign and encourage people to have the courage to share their stories. I’m excited to go home and see my South African family, but I just want to say thank you very much. It’s been such a special time in my life.”
We’re incredibly proud of Tamaryn and all she has accomplished in the competition and we look forward to welcoming her back to South Africa with open arms.
