Over the past 10 years, Minnie Dlamini-Jones has built an incredible career for herself. She is one of the biggest presenters in the country and has built up a large, loyal fanbase. However, her rise to fame has not been without controversy.
To celebrate, the star held a massive bash, her first since the sudden death of her brother Khosini in September last year, at a stunning mansion in Sandton and saw her invite those close to her – including celebrities like Thando Thabethe, Unathi Nkayi and more.
As the celebrations went on, it started raining and that moment brought a sense of calm to the presenter. “When it started raining everyone was in a panic but I wasn’t because I knew it meant my brother was with me,” she said in a recent interview. “Rain is so significant to the Dlamini family and we know that we are having a good event when it’s raining. If you look at everyone, they are having a good time. Even in sadness, when we are completely destroyed, we know how to have a good time and we do it together. That’s what’s so important about today; it symbolises the kind of family I grew up in. Today couldn’t be more perfect, it’s almost as perfect as my wedding day.”
Today, Minnie continues to be a flawless television presenter, she’s launched her own skincare line and even had a few acting gigs throughout her career. However, her favourite moment of the last decade was winning Live Amp’s presenter search in 2010. “That was the day that changed my life. I felt like I was thrown into the deep end and I had no option but to swim. That experience taught me strength and perseverance,” she says. “It also taught me to truly discover what I really wanted to do with the platform that I had and I feel like right now I’m truly living the dream that I had 10 years ago.”
Here’s to 10 more incredible years, Minnie!
