South African Bollywood actress and film producer Tarina Patel has been globetrotting around the world in the past week. Over the weekend, the star planted trees for charity at the Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo with Chris Martin of Coldplay, as well as busy mingling with Oprah Winfrey and Dr. Precious Moloi-Motsepe.
Oprah Winfrey, Chris Martin, Beyoncé, Jay Z, and Ed Sheeran were among the international celebrities in Joburg for the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 Celebrations.
Just earlier in the week, Tarina was on the other side of the globe, at The Pierre Hotel by Taj in New York City, where she was honoured as the Roshni Media Group’s “Inspirational Women” at the TIA – The Inspirational Achievers Awards Gala.
Founded by Dr. Rashmee Sharma and Ms. Mani Kamboj, the RAYWA non-profit organization gala dinner raised funds for autism, and unveiled a book which featured stories by the inspirational women honoured at the gala. Tarina is also penning a new book and focusing on her medical foundation, inspired by her late father who was a dedicated physician.
Tarina chatted about mutual friends in South Africa, with friend, actress Lindsay Lohan, who presented at the New York gala. “Lindsay told me she is hoping to come out to South Africa soon for a visit,” recalled Tarina. “She’s passionate about the healthcare work that my foundation is doing, and our opthamology and paediatric cardiology collaboration with the Sisulu Foundation.”
