First off, we need to warn you: Do not read on if you don’t want to know who won America’s Got Talent 2019 before the episode broadcasts in SA.

But if you do, then the results are in!

Ten acts performed in the grand finale, and the Top 5 were revealed during the results show.

South Africans have had a particular interest in this season of the show after our very own Ndlovu Youth Choir wowed judges Simon Cowell, Gabrielle Union, Howie Mandell and Julianne Hough as they auditioned for the popular reality show.

Their final performance was a moving tribute to their home continent, giving a beautiful rendition of Toto’s ‘Africa’. The act saw the choir receive high praise from the most notoriously fastidious of all the judges, Simon Cowell.

Sadly, however, the performance was not enough to bag the group the coveted $1-million prize. In the live results finale  they were eliminated ahead of the top five acts announcement.

In first place was 22-year-old singer Kodi Lee, who received judge Gabrielle Union’s first golden buzzer.

The Ndlovu Youth Choir, however, is taking the loss in their stride, and already have their sights on spreading their message far and wide. Taking to Twitter following the elimination, the group said: “We are so excited for what lies ahead and we look forward to continuing sharing love, unity and above all hope.”

They certainly proved to be an inspiration and a unifying force here at home during their time on the world’s biggest talent stage, and we’re incredibly proud of the first African act ever to reach the finals of the talent show. #Halala, guys – you rock!
