RIP: 5FM’s Rob Forbes’ Brother Takes His Life

5FM’s Rob Forbes took to Twitter yesterday to share the tragic news that his brother (31) had taken his own life.

“My little brother is gone,” he shared. “He was 31. He was married. He was two rotations away from becoming a doctor. He took his own life this morning..” Forbes then reminded his followers to continually check on those they love. “My heart is broken Check in with those you love .”

When it comes to issue of mental health and depression, you can do something to help.

According to the South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG), looking out for a friend or loved one is an important part of preventing suicides.

In South Africa there are 23 suicides a day recorded and 230 attempted suicide.
