Talented DJ and producer Prince Kaybee recently released a brand new project titled Crossover Music. This comes after the release of his album Re Mmino earlier this year. The LP was certified GOLD on the day of release and amassed 56 million streams in just 2 months.
A couple of weeks ago, he dropped a new EP Crossover Music which has also been received well by his fans.
Unlike his previous releases, this one has a more international appeal and Prince believes the timing was perfect to go global.
“Imagine trying to crossover when you no longer relevant. Now is a perfect time. We’ve been nominated for the EMAs and that’ll work in our favour.” he explained.
“It’s very tricky when you trying to crossover because you need to keep both audiences. You need to keep the local audience and the international audience.”
After the emergence of the Amapiano sound in the mainstream, the Gugulethu hitmaker believes that the sub-genre has the potential to do well international.
“It’s a very exciting time with this movement. I’d like to see an Amapiano artist feature someone huge internationally; from here on we need to concentrate on going international. Regardless of whether or not to crossover or keep the sound the same”, said the star.
