7de Laan’s Nobuhle Mahlasela opens up about making bad decisions
7de Laan actress Nobuhle Mimi Mahlasela reminded us all that even celebrities are human this week, after sharing some honest stories about the difficulties she faces on a daily basis
We’re used to seeing her on our screens as the energetic and friendly Aggie on the Afrikaans soapie, but it seems as if the real-life Mimi struggles as much as anybody else.
Taking to Instagram, Nobuhle spoke openly about breaking down and being hard on herself:
“This week was emotionally hard on me. From sitting on the floor in the shower naked, crying my lungs out because I felt I made bad choices in my life, that I’m not good enough, to doubting myself and basically tearing myself apart from all angles.”
Mimi ended her post on a positive note, however, by revealing that she survived the week by always choosing happiness
“Here’s the thing though – every single day of this week I chose HAPPINESS not because it’s cliched but because honestly it’s the best feeling in the world and I want that feeling forever.”
This week was emotionally hard on me – from sitting on the floor in the shower naked crying my lungs out because I felt I made bad choices in my life, I’m not good enough, I’m not doing the right thing, doubting myself and basically tearing myself apart from all angles. She spoke to Tshisa Live, to reveal a little bit more about what had been getting her down and said:
“It was a series of personal things that have happened, including the death of family members and just growing up. It is not easy. It is overwhelming. Sometimes I tell my mom that she should have written me little notes of what to expect at certain points in my life. I was just contemplating life and the personal journey.”
Like many other celebrities in recent times, Mimi emphasised the importance of opening up about your troubles.
“The thing is we all go through such things, and you think you are the only one going through it. There are so many people going through stuff and the more we talk about it, the better.”
