Anatii Celebrates his birthday with Courvoisier

Multi-award winning hip hop superstar producer, singer and rapper Anatii celebrated his 26th birthday in style last night at Rockets in Bryanston. It’s amazing to think that Anatii who has had such a massive contribution to the South African hip hop and music scene at large, is only 26. Last night, as we made our way to Rockets, where we withstood that treacherous rain (which failed to dampen our spirits), we were welcomed with Anatii’s signature cocktail drink, which he has called “The Wave”, in collaboration with Courvoisier.

Surrounded by the faces of long-time friends, celebs – Sjava, Nomzamo, Tresor and Danny K – and beloved family, the party was not only a celebration of Anatii’s 26th birthday but served to celebrate an amazing year of partnership between the artist and the storied Parisian cognac.

“I feel blessed, I feel honoured and I feel like life is throwing so many amazing things at me right now. I’d like to thank God, family, Courvoisier and everybody who’s here with me right now and who’s been on this wave with me”, said Anatii in his birthday speech.

Getting everyone in the mood was Rocket’s very own resident beat mixer, Dj Shluda da Guru who set the mood for the night. On serenade duty was Anatii’s little sister, Ma Nala, who surprised guests and Anatii with a special performance of two of her songs, Blame and Forever (a collaboration she did with Gemini Major, which she’s shooting a video for next week) as well as a cover of Adele’s Hometown Glory.

After joining the iconic French brand, Anatii wasted no time in making his mark as an artist worthy of the title Lumiere. With his video for the hit song Thixo Onofefe – produced in association with Courvoisier and directed by Anatii (add cocktail mixer / creator and visual director to his list of accomplishments while we’re at it) – Anatii set himself apart from his peers as a creative of uncommon talent. The video was followed shortly by the release of Anatii’s long awaited IYEZA album.

IYEZA, probably a first of its kind, blending soul with Xhosa trap and appealing to the older markets all the way down to the skrrr-skrrr kids, has been well received by critics and fans alike, with some praising it as a masterpiece.

All in all Anatii’s birthday night was filled with the magic, luxury and unmistakable spirit that has made 2018 an unforgettable year for Courvoisier and Anatii in equal measure.
