2018 was an impressive year for Jeremy Loops. The star released his second studio album ‘Critical As Water’ and became one of the highest streamed local acts on all the major streaming services. Now, after a string of hit singles like ‘Waves’ and ‘Gold’, the star is back with brand-new music as he joins forces with Austrian singer-songwriter James Hersey.
The new single, titled ‘My People’, is another brilliantly written indie pop track. The song is the perfect way to showcase both artists’ vocal talents beautifully which harmoniously come together in the catchy chorus. The guitar-driven pop song screams summer and is the perfect soundtrack to end the season off to here in South Africa.
Response to the song has been phenomenal as just hours after it was released, it was added to 30 New Music Spotify Friday Playlists around the world, as well as equivalent Best of the Week playlisting support on Apple Music.
On how the song came about, Jeremy tells us that “James and I had a jam session at my house in Cape Town the day after we first met. It was effortless and so much fun, we kept saying we need to connect on a track together. It took two years to come to fruition, but I couldn’t be prouder of ‘My People’, and I’m equally amped to have James supporting us on the road this year.”
James Hersey adds that it was loved ones who inspired the single. “Jeremy and I both lead lives that require us to spend a lot of time away from home. ‘My People’ is a homage not to the places we come from, but to the people there that keep us coming back”
‘My People’ is out everywhere right now.
