Venus Williams launches inclusive sunscreen skincare line

Venus Williams has unveiled a new sunscreen skincare line that caters for all skin tones.

The tennis ace has teamed up with executives at Credo Beauty and The Sunscreen Company to create the mineral-based products, which contain 25 per cent zinc oxide.

In an interview with Essence magazine about the venture, Venus noted how thrilled she is to have finally found the perfect SPF for her complexion.

“I’ve been a huge fan of wearing sunscreen – not at the beginning of my life, but when I got a little bit older I started to understand the value of taking care of your skin,” she told the publication. “And not just the skin on your face, but the skin on your body, too.

“As an African-American, I felt like, ‘Oh, I have built-in sunscreen. I don’t need sunscreen. I’m invincible.’ But that’s not the truth. I’m happy I got wise, but I just wish I would’ve done it sooner.”

The EleVen by Venus Williams line features two products – the Unrivaled Sun Serum SPF35 and the On-The-Defense Sunscreen SPF30. Both have been formulated using clean ingredients that won’t leave an ashy finish on the skin.

“I’m very much into clean health, so this fits into my philosophy partnering with Credo,” the 39-year-old explained. “They’re the experts on clean beauty. The partnership is organic, and they’ve been working on this product and renditions for a while, and I’m extremely excited about what we produced because it’s a mineral sunscreen that does absorb into your skin and you can’t tell that it there.”

EleVen by Venus Williams is now available to purchase from Credo Beauty.
