Serena Williams wants to design babywear line

Serena Williams wants to design a line of babywear inspired by her daughter.

The tennis star launched her size-inclusive womenswear collection, S by Serena, last year and took her brand to a new level when she presented her latest designs at New York Fashion Week in September.

Serena hopes to expand the line one day to feature babywear inspired by her two-year-old daughter Alexis Olympia, who she shares with her Reddit co-founder husband Alexis Ohanian.

“I want to design a line of babywear inspired by my daughter,” she told People. “I take her everywhere, and I hope to have more children.”

When asked how she balances her fashion ambitions, tennis career and motherhood, Serena admitted she doesn’t.

“I basically don’t balance,” the 38-year-old laughed. “When I do something one day, it is 100 per cent. Then when I am done, I am done and on to the next thing! I live and breathe fashion in the tennis off-season, but no matter what else I do, I am always a mom and I love every minute of it.”

The S by Serena features dresses, jackets, jumpsuits, tops, bottoms and trench coats, with some pieces featuring bold patterns, animal prints, and sequin embellishments.

Accordingly, the sports star explained that she was inspired by a mix of pop culture and her own personal style when designing.

“I am inspired by pop culture and creativity, and I like to make a power statement,” she shared. “I like to stand out. I want to be seen and be heard, and that is my design inspiration.

“My personal style is that I like both trends and classic looks, so I put them together… I bring trendy with classic silhouettes.”
