Serena Williams hilariously dodged every mention of pal Meghan, Duchess of Sussex while appearing on the latest episode of Naomi Campbell’s YouTube series.
During the instalment of No Filter With Naomi on Monday, tennis ace Serena and her sister Venus talked about competing in their first tournament together and the lack of racial diversity in the sport on the whole.
However, when it came to the subject of Meghan, the sportswoman stayed tight-lipped.
“Are you happy that your girlfriend’s moved to America?” the British supermodel asked Serena, clarifying that she was talking about Meghan to avoid any confusion.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t know nothing about that,” joked Serena, as the trio giggled. “Never seen her, never heard of her, don’t know her.”
Serena first met Meghan in 2010, and the two established a friendship, with the 38-year-old notably attending the former British royal’s 2018 wedding to Prince Harry. Meghan also attended the U.S. Open in 2019 to cheer on the tennis ace.
Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals last month and are currently isolating against the coronavirus at their new home in Los Angeles, with Harry recently confessing to spending the lockdown “rolling around in hysterics” as he spends time with their 11-month-old son, Archie.
