Ryan Reynolds mocks controversial Peloton commercial with hilarious sequel

Ryan Reynolds mocked the headline-making Peloton commercial with a hilarious sequel starring the same actress.

In the original advert, titled The Gift That Gives Back, a woman receives an exercise bike from the fitness equipment company as a Christmas gift from her husband.

The commercial received backlash from people who believed it portrayed a man who wanted his wife to lose weight, but the Deadpool actor couldn’t help but see the funny side of the situation, as he created his own followup.

In the new clip, hilariously dubbed The Gift That Doesn’t Give Back, promoting his alcohol brand Aviation Gin, the same woman who played the original wife also appears.

However, the new gin commercial sees her at a bar with two friends, with her mind clearly in a different place.

“To new beginnings,” she says before drinking the entire glass in one sip. At the end of the commercial, one of the friends says, ‘You look great by the way!’ – a not so subtle dig at the backlash Peloton received.

Ryan further addressed the controversy when he posted the ad on his social media accounts with the caption: “Exercise bike not included. #AviationGin.”

Sean Hunter – who stars in the original Peloton commercial as the husband – opened up on Friday about the negative backlash the ad has received.

“People turned down a pretty dark path and it turned into a nasty thing,” the actor complained to Good Morning America. “My image is being associated with sexism, with the patriarchy, with abuse, with these words that I am seeing people write about me – that’s not who I am.”
