Robert De Niro set to front Ermenegildo Zegna campaign

Robert De Niro has reportedly been tapped to front Ermenegildo Zegna’s new campaign.

The Taxi Driver actor has been secured to front the Italian luxury brand’s spring advertising campaign, according to WWD.

The fashion website reports that De Niro will be flanked by actor McCaul Lombardi in the marketing imagery, which will be photographed by Francesco Carrozzini in Los Angeles.

Should the campaign be unveiled, it will be a major score for the Milan-based brand, as De Niro has a long-standing relationship with Giorgio Armani, and regularly attended the designer’s menswear shows.

Zegna artistic director Alessandro Sartori would not confirm De Niro’s involvement in a campaign, but divulged that he had “decided to change the concept of advertising and communication” for the label.

“We are thinking of a communication platform that can trigger emotions, in line with the values of the group and my artistic direction,” he shared. “And that will tell the story of the brand and not that of the product, in a collage of characters with different identities but with stylistic affinity engaged in conversations.”

A former Berluti designer, Sartori joined Zegna in June (16), where he has full responsibility across all brands and all creative functions. His first collection will bow for the fall season and will be unveiled in Milan in January (17).

De Niro, 73, has a number of projects in the pipeline, including a role in David O. Russell’s new mafia TV series. He will next be seen portraying disgraced financier Bernie Madoff in the HBO movie Wizard Of Lies directed by Barry Levinson.
