Rihanna tested out key pieces in her new Fenty fashion line before putting them up for sale.
The music superstar confirmed she was teaming with designers at French luxury conglomerate LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton on high-end clothing range earlier this month and held the launch party at a pop-up store in Paris on Tuesday night.
Prior to the event, Rihanna gave editors at Vogue.com a preview of the line, and shared that she wore some of the garments, such as a raw denim dress, before the release as she wanted to ensure the quality and fit was up to her standard.
“Everybody knows my denim obsession is not going to stop. I had them make the dress in my size the moment the sample came in just so that I could see what it looked like on my body – my hips, my curves, my thighs,” she told the fashion publication. “Just like everything, it has to come from me; it has to look good on me – I have to love it with a passion. If that feeling isn’t there, it won’t work.”
Rihanna’s debut collection features boxy blazers, oversized suits, baggy jackets, shirt dresses, crisp white T-shirts, and denim miniskirts.
Many of the blazers are matched with on-trend belt bags, with the Barbadian beauty explaining that she had a very specific reason for styling them that way.
“I’ve always loved shopping in the men’s department. I like the swag, the fit of it,” the 31-year-old commented. “Plus this suit comes with a matching fanny-pack, so you’re instantly snatched in the waist.”
Rihanna, who has also found success with her Fenty Beauty cosmetics company and Savage X Fenty lingerie line, has also included sunglasses, accessories and footwear in her line.
The full collection will be available to buy from 29 May. Items will be priced from $335 (£265) to $890 (£705).
