Reese Witherspoon shares her go-to green smoothie recipe

Reese Witherspoon has finally shared the recipe for her favourite green smoothie with fans.

The Legally Blonde actress took to Instagram on Tuesday to share a video in which she explained that she skips breakfast and has the healthy drink each day about 10 or 11am.

“This is the smoothie that I drink every single day, and I have probably for eight years, nine years, I don’t even know,” she said, noting that she doesn’t get hungry again until about 1pm. “It has a lot of vegetables in it.”

After explaining that the recipe is inspired by Kimberly Snyder’s Glowing Green Smoothie, Reese took two heads of romaine lettuce, fresh spinach, celery, one pear, one apple, a banana, one lemon, as well as half a cup of coconut water and popped them into a blender.

Depending on what is in her fridge at the time, she will also sometimes add in other green vegetables, a scoop of protein powder, or some almond butter.

“You can put in anything green (from) the refrigerator. If you have lettuce and you didn’t make that salad that you wanted to make, you can put it in there,” the 44-year-old said, before insisting that the smoothie is delicious. “I know it looks like it tastes gross. But it tastes so good! It’s so good, I love it so much.”

And elsewhere in the clip, Reese credited her Little Fires Everywhere co-star Kerry Washington with introducing her to the recipe a decade ago.

“I sat next to (Kerry) at an awards show and I didn’t really know her, but I said, ‘Your skin is so beautiful. What do you do?’ and she said, ‘I think it’s from this drink that I drink. It’s really changed my skin and it makes my hair and nails really strong.’ So thank you, Kerry, for sharing the recipe,” she smiled.
