Rami Malek is reportedly looking to move to London after falling in love with the city while filming Bohemian Rhapsody.
The actor, who was awarded the Best Actor gong at the BAFTAs on Sunday (10Feb19) for his performance as outlandish Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, made “friends for life” while making the movie, and even fell in love with his girlfriend and co-star, Lucy Boynton.
When asked about his most memorable moment while playing the rocker in the the musical biopic, the Mr. Robot star said it was recreating Queen’s iconic performance at Live Aid in 1985.
“We call it our own band now,” he said of Gwilym Lee, who played Brian May, and Ben Hardy, who played Roger Taylor. “Beginning the film with Live Aid was a baptism by fire. We just galvanised ourselves as a group and that was it.”
“I’ve formed some of the best friends of my life from this film,” Rami gushed.
The 37-year-old is favourite to scoop the Oscar for Best Actor at the ceremony later this month, after winning a Golden Globe and a SAG Award for his stunning turn as Freddie, who died in 1991 at the age of 45 from complications from AIDS.
And Rami confessed that making the movie was one of his greatest achievements.
“We’ve been able to share this with Brian May and Roger Taylor and, shooting here (in London) was honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life,” he shared. “I got to go from Abbey Road Studios, Air Studios. See all of London and fall in love with it to a point where I’m now looking for a place to live here.”
