Patti Smith set to front Saint Laurent campaign – report

Punk poet Patti Smith is reportedly the face of Saint Laurent’s spring 2020 campaign.

The French fashion house’s creative director Anthony Vaccarello has selected the 72-year-old rocker to front the imagery, according to editors at Page Six Style, with photographer Steven Sebring to helm the photoshoot in New York City later this month.

Sebring has a special relationship with Smith, as he first photographed her in 1995 for Spin magazine and directed 2008 documentary, Patti Smith: Dream of Life.

And the Because the Night hitmaker isn’t the first musician to land an ad campaign for the luxury label. Under previous creative director Hedi Slimane, stars including Courtney Love, Marilyn Manson, Daft Punk, and Joni Mitchell modelled in Saint Laurent ads.

While back in April, Vaccarello announced that he had chosen Keanu Reeves to star in the fall 2019 menswear campaign.

The three black-and-white shots, captured by fashion photographer David Sims, depict the 55-year-old wearing a black leather aviator jacket with a shearling collar, a pinstripe suit and aviator sunglasses, as well as a classic motorcycle jacket.

Meanwhile, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard was named as the face of the fall/winter 2019 campaign in May.

The 16-year-old appears in another slick photoshoot by Sims, where he poses in a skinny two-piece suit styled with high-shine leather boots.

In another image, the young actor, who plays Mike Wheeler in the hit Netflix series, is seen wearing a striped shirt with a tie, leather jacket, and sunglasses.
