Awks! Orlando Bloom misspells son’s name in new tattoo

Orlando Bloom has spelled his son Flynn’s name wrong in his new Morse code tattoo.

The Lord of the Rings actor, who shares the nine-year-old with his ex-wife Miranda Kerr, took to Instagram on Tuesday to unveil his latest piece of body art from tattooist Balazs Bercsenyi.

Fans were initially at a loss as to the meaning of the inking, which featured a series of dots, dashes, and seemingly random numbers on his forearm, but Orlando quickly explained the tattoo was Morse code for Flynn’s name alongside numbers representing the date and time of his birth.

However, some of his followers were quick to point out that the tattoo was incorrect – and actually spells ‘Frynn’ due to a single dot missing from the second letter.

“If the Morse code is supposed to spell out Flynn then there is a mistake,” one wrote, while another added: “It’s a lovely idea and a beautiful tattoo. But if it is indeed Morse code, I think it says ‘Frynn,’ not ‘Flynn’.”

Following the remarks, Bercsenyi took to Instagram to share a picture of himself with the actor, and acknowledged the mistake.

“A beautiful reminder for @orlandobloom of his son,” he captioned the picture. “And yes, a dot is missing, we know, it will be fixed.”

Orlando, 43, isn’t the only star to have been left red-faced by a tattoo misspelling.

Ariana Grande hit headlines when she decided to get a Japanese tattoo on the palm of her hand which was meant to read 7 Rings, to promote her song of the same name, but actually translated to “shichirin” – a Japanese-style barbecue grill.

Elsewhere, Britney Spears had hoped to have the word “mysterious” inked on her hip in Chinese characters, but an error means she actually has “strange” tattooed there instead.
