Leslie Jones teamed up with Christian Siriano after she was made to feel like she wasn’t a “regular size” in Hollywood.

Back in 2016, the 51-year-old vented her frustrations on Twitter after she found no designers were willing to dress her for the premiere of her movie Ghostbusters.

“Maybe because I’m tall, maybe I’m not the regular size – which is not that big,” she told Variety in a new interview. “I’m (a) 10, 12. I guess it’s big for a Hollywood size, but I’m a normal-sized woman.

“I always knew I liked clothes. I just didn’t know how to translate that as far as dressing myself.”

Days before the Ghostbusters premiere, the Saturday Night Live writer and comedian took to social media to voice her disappointment, before she headed out to the mall to look at dresses at U.S. department store, Macy’s.

“It’s so funny how there are no designers wanting to help me with a premiere dress for movie. Hmmm that will change and I remember everything,” she posted at the time.

The tweet blew up, and she was then contacted by Siriano, and together, they created her dream dress – a red, off-the-shoulder floor length gown, with a thigh-high slit – inspired by the 1976 film Sparkle.

For her first Emmy nomination in 2017, she collaborated again with Siriano on a daring black sequinned dress.

“That was just me wanting to have something really dramatic and see-through, because I had been working out, so I wanted to show off my body,” the star explained.

And for her second Emmy nod a year later, Jones loosened up with a pastel-coloured iridescent trouser suit designed, once again, by the Project Runway winner.

“I didn’t have any pockets, so I had my speech in my bra,” she recalled. “And I remember that I was so hot, and I was sweating, so the ink went onto my breast. When I took it off, I had ‘God’ on one breast and ‘Lorne’ (Michaels, Saturday Night Live creator) on the other one!”
