Brandon Maxwell loves the endless possibilities of working with Lady Gaga.
The designer and stylist is the man behind many of the singer-turned-actress’ red carpet looks, including her stunning white Oscars gown. And as Gaga’s fashion director, Brandon has a great deal of freedom collaborating with the star.
“We sit down and bounce ideas back and forth and work together to find the look that best represents the moment,” he told Vogue.co.uk. “When you’re also very close to the person that you are working with it is very easy and 100 per cent fun, I always enjoy the process.
“Being that we’re very close I think we always are pretty much on the same page. She’s a dream to work with because the possibilities are endless and she loves fashion so much and is open to trying anything. We learn from each other and that is the best part.”
Jennifer Lawrence is another A-list fan of Brandon’s. But the designer can’t choose a favourite time a star has worn one of his pieces, as every time is special for him. He explained he likes to form a close bond with each of the women he works with, as getting to know their “spirit” helps him in the design process.
Perhaps one of the biggest names to wear one of his designs is First Lady Michelle Obama, with Brandon telling Vogue he was thrilled to see her don one of his creations.
“Strong and elegant, she is the embodiment of the woman that inspires me to design, and a role model for women all over the world. I am very thankful for that opportunity,” he gushed.
“I’m so lucky that these amazing women have chosen to wear my clothes.”
