Kumail Nanjiani stuns fans with ripped physique

Kumail Nanjiani has wowed fans by showing off his physical transformation for his role in Marvel movie The Eternals.

The Silicon Valley actor and stand-up comedian was revealed to be playing Kingo, a cosmic-powered being and legendary swordsman, in the Marvel movie earlier this year, and he has been training heavily to prepare for filming.

On Monday evening, the 41-year-old showed off the result of his hard work, posting a shirtless picture on Instagram to flaunt his new ripped abs and bulging biceps.

“I never thought I’d be one of those people who would post a thirsty shirtless, but I’ve worked way too hard for way too long so here we are,” he wrote in the caption. “I found out a year ago I was going to be in Marvel’s Eternals and decided I wanted to transform how I looked. I would not have been able to do this if I didn’t have a full year with the best trainers and nutritionists paid for by the biggest studio in the world. I’m glad I look like this, but I also understand why I never did before. It would have been impossible without these resources and time.”

He went on to thank trainer Grant Roberts for making him “understand true physical pain for months and months”, the fitness team on location, the chefs at Matthews Street Catering for making him healthy meals, and his wife Emily V. Gordon for “putting up with me complaining and talking about only working out and dieting for the last year”.

Kumail’s picture subsequently went viral on social media and received many celebrity comments. Dwayne Johnson praised his transformation by writing, “Extremely hard work. Dense muscle is hard to achieve. Looking great my brother!!” with fist bump and flexing muscle emojis, while fellow former wrestler Dave Bautista wrote, “Holy good god! I’d say mission accomplished. Way to get after it brother!”

Brittany Snow added, “Holy. S**t,” Jason Biggs commented, “Holy balls,” and Chelsea Handler stated, “This is ridiculous.”

The Eternals, which also stars Angelina Jolie, Salma Hayek, and Richard Madden, is slated to hit cinemas in November 2020.
