Kourtney Kardashian no longer concentrates on calorie counting after spending her younger years focused on appearing thin.
In a new interview with Health magazine, the reality TV star discussed her decision to embrace clean living and organic produce, as well as her regrets over not doing her research into what was best for her body when she was a teenager.
“I grew up in that super-skinny era. ‘Fat-free’ and calorie counting was the thing,” she told the publication. “I don’t even think about those things anymore. No one cared about carbs; it was just (about) no fat. I didn’t know what was healthy or not healthy growing up.”
Now, Kourtney abides by a gluten and dairy-free eating plan. She also switches up her organic diet to the low-carb, high-fat ketogenic diet to keep her figure trim.
“My skin is very sensitive, and if I eat dairy, it affects it,” the mother-of-three shared. “I love doing a keto diet, though I’m not doing it now. I noticed my body change for the better. I (also) love intermittent fasting. I try to do that all the time. Sometimes if I’ve had a normal day of eating and I’m pretty full, instead of having dinner, I’ll have some bone broth, especially if I’m not feeling well or starting to get sick.”
While Kourtney’s keen a holistic lifestyle and often scolds members of her famous family for having non-organic produce in their fridges, the 40-year-old also confessed that she indulges in sweet treats and junk food every now and then.
“My mom has a good pantry in Palm Springs filled with Cheetos and Oreos and lots of junk foods. I definitely treat myself. And (recently) Kim and I did a road trip, and we stopped at a gas station and raided it – Funyuns, mini doughnuts, Chex Mix,” she commented, before noting that she doesn’t like sugary drinks. “I would never open a can of soda. That’s just not where I would cheat.”
