Self-confessed Spanx fan Kim Kardashian has unveiled her very own line of shapewear.
The reality TV star launched Kimono, a collection of skin tone-coloured controlling underwear, in a post on Instagram on Tuesday.
Sharing a series of images from the campaign, Kim is seen posing in an all-in-one bodysuit, and in the accompanying caption, she explained that she was inspired to create her own shapewear after spending years cutting up her Spanx.
“Kimono is my take on shapewear and solutions for women that actually work,” the 38-year-old wrote. “I would always cut up my shapewear to make my own styles, and there have also been so many times I couldn’t find a shapewear colour that blended with my skin tone so we needed a solution for all of this.”
The images were shot by Vanessa Beecroft – who has worked with Kim’s husband Kanye West on several projects – and show the cosmetics mogul alongside models wearing different Kimono pieces, including bodysuits, bras, underwear and an eye-catching one-legged bike short.
Kim noted that the bike short, dubbed the solution short, was created because she still wanted support when wearing a dress or a skirt with a thigh-high split.
A launch date has not yet been revealed, but the pieces will be available in sizes ranging from XXS to 4XL and will be offered in nine shades.
This is Kim’s first venture into fashion and comes just days after she launched her new body foundation for her KKW Beauty brand.
However, the mother-of-four has faced criticism on social media for not being size-inclusive in her campaign images.
“She says ‘for every body’ but the only bodies shown are what society wants,” one wrote user wrote, while another commented, “If you need a 4X model, I’m here!”
