Lamar, 36, has had a well-publicised battle with addiction, and recently spent several months in hospital as he recovered from a drug overdose and a series of strokes after being found unconscious in a brothel near Las Vegas in October (15).
On Easter Sunday (27Mar16), the 6ft 10in basketball player was spotted at the Johnny O’Brien pub in Sherman Oaks, California, where he ordered several drinks, according to website TMZ.com.
Now Lamar’s estranged wife Khloe is apparently pushing the former basketball player to go to rehab in a bid to seek treatment for his addiction issues.
“Lamar is happy to go to physical rehab, but refuses to deal with his drug demons,” a source close to the former couple tells TMZ. “Khloe’s even suggested an outpatient programme, but Lamar remains defiant. Khloe’s telling friends and family there will come a point when ‘she has to stop trying’ to save Lamar.”
However, it’s not just Khloe who thinks Lamar is on dangerous ground by choosing to drink again. His friends and family are all said to be keen for the sportsman to get some help. According to the website, Lamar’s nearest and dearest are doing their utmost to convince him rehab would be the best idea by drawing his attention to various members of his family, including his father, struggling with addiction issues.
Even Lamar’s two children, who he is in regular contact with, were apparently left concerned by the pictures of their father at the bar, and are fearful that a renewed love of alcohol may lead to him becoming estranged from them once again.
“No one close to Lamar believes he can ‘casually’ drink without opening the door to renewed drug abuse,” the source added.
