John Travolta wore a burgundy suit at the Critics’ Choice Awards because his wife Kelly Preston has always wanted to see him in the colour.
John was nominated for his role in American crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, but lost out on the best supporting Actor In A Movie Made For Television Or Limited Series category to his co-star Sterling K. Brown. It didn’t ruin John’s night though, with the iconic actor looking dapper in a burgundy velvet suit by Matteo Perin in Los Angeles on Sunday (11Dec16).
“The hardest part of the awards is getting ready,” John told WWD. “My wife always wanted me to wear this colour, so she gets credit.”
The 62-year-old added that finding a designer to dress him isn’t always an easy task.
“Forty years ago before (Giorgio Armani) was super famous, he made clothes for me. Since then I haven’t had anyone. This is the first guy who is willing to dress me, and it turned out great.”
Ryan Reynolds also found it hard to get dressed for the big event. Going home with the gong for Best Actor in a Comedy for Deadpool, which also picked up the Best Comedy award, Ryan admitted to People that getting dressed with two small children is proving to be a challenge.
“I don’t have time for anything — I’m amazed I remembered pants!” he laughed.
Ryan and wife Blake Lively have daughters James, 23 months, and a two-month-old baby girl, but they’re yet to share the tot’s name.
“This is, like, a 45-minutes procedure — and that’s on a good day,” he joked of his bow tie. “If I have to do one, sometimes it’s hours. It’s a terrible process.
“I’m going to actually nap in the awards show. That’s where I’ll get a little rest!”
